In-Person Bargaining Session at UMB

If you are not currently an AFSCME member, you can become one here. As an AFSCME member, you get to help us decide future bargaining priorities and vote on future agreements.

On Wednesday, May 17, AFSCME met with the University System of Maryland (USM) for an in-person bargaining session at the University of Maryland Baltimore.

The AFSCME team submitted a wage proposal that included additional wage increases for all AFSCME members, pay increases based on longevity, and pay increases to target wage disparities and address pay equity issues. We also submitted proposals regarding pay transparency and protecting the rights of members to have a second job when not working at a university. Lastly, we proposed lowering the cost of parking across the system.

USM management did not bring any new proposals. We discussed existing proposals including, but not limited to, our right to information, union rights, seniority, shared governance, nepotism, and use of campus facilities.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28th at the AFSCME Maryland Ostend Street office in Baltimore.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who participated in our virtual bargaining forum earlier this month!
