December 29 Bargaining Session

The AFSCME Maryland State Bargaining Team met with the State of Maryland for our fifth negotiations session on Monday, December 29.

During this negotiation session, the State offered no substantive changes to their last wage proposal for all AFSCME covered employees. This means the State’s wage proposal currently stands at a 1.5% COLA and changes for all pay scale steps to be worth 2%.

The AFSCME Maryland State Bargaining team remains disappointed with this proposal and countered with the following:

  • 2% Cost Of Living Adjustment (COLA)
  • $1,400 flat increase to base pay
  • Change to all pay scales steps to be worth 2%
  • No furloughs and no layoffs guarantees through June 30, 2027

In response, the State said they would cost out this proposal and get back to us.

The AFSCME team will meet again before the New Year to discuss our options and any counter proposals from the State.

Under the law, we much reach an agreement with the State by 11:59pm on 12/31.
