December 20 and 21 Bargaining Update

The AFSCME Maryland Bargaining Team has been working hard to reach a tentative agreement with the State before the December 31 deadline. We want to win the best deal possible for all of our members.

While we were able to reach a tentative agreement on most of the new and existing articles in our last two bargaining sessions on Wednesday, December 20 and Thursday, December 21, we have not yet reached an agreement regarding two important issues: wages and binding arbitration. You can read more about binding arbitration in our last bargaining update here.

Our team will be reconvening next week after Christmas to discuss further, and we will keep everyone updated when we do reach an agreement.

TAKE ACTION

We need every state employee to send a letter to Governor Wes Moore! The wage proposal that the State has offered is NOT ENOUGH, and we only have until December 31 to come to an agreement with the State.

Take 2 minutes to send a letter to his administration, and let them know that state workers deserve a fair and comprehensive wage proposal. Without this, state jobs will continue to go unfilled, we won’t have enough people to carry out our public services, and our communities will ultimately be the ones who are hurt.
